What Made Me Teary-Eyed Today

As I mentioned in my previous post, I love baking.  I've started making my pastry experiments a few months ago.  So far, I've tried making butter cookies, banana cake, chocolate cupcakes, bibingka, and chocolate crinkles.  They weren't all you-can-start-your-bakeshop-business perfect but (in all fairness to me - haha!) they weren't downright disastrous either. ;)

This morning, I was surprised by an email from Jax, who forwarded me this email with a message that said "Pearl, I think you would like this?"

I naturally felt a little excited.  This is what I need to finally perfect my goodies!  However, (typical of me) I told hubby I wasn't comfortable to shell out this amount for  a baking class, to which he replied with:


This is my way of supporting you on what you want to do. I see you baking on our little oven toaster. I like that attitude, you are really trying to show your enthusiasm despite the lack of tools and it has been consistent for quite some time now. (yes, I do notice it)

6K is cheap compared to my hobby. :) just enjoy what im offering.

If you pursue this, who knows maybe next time you get some hardware too :D

Aaaaaw.  Excuse me, this is a rare senti moment for superwifey because of hubby.  I teared up upon reading this because I never really thought Jax actually thinks of the things I love to do.  He probably took pity on me for being a trying hard baker.  Hehe.

Me the Shy Blogger

I've been blogging since I was 24.  (As I write this post, I am checking out my old blog - hahaha!)  I realized that a lot has changed about how I write, what I blog about, and what I consider as big deals then.  What remained constant though is that, I still like to share my thoughts to the world (whether or not people actually read it! haha!)  I'm not a big writer so sometimes I may be grammatically incorrect or I may not make sense, but well that's just being me and my intention to share is there. 

When I heard that a press launch of one of our new products is going to be done right here in our facility and that bloggers are invited to the event, I got excited.  I want to meet other women (not expecting a lot of males because most of our products are targeted at the female orientation) who share the same passion for blabbing writing on the web.  In fact, I've been telling everyone in the office that I want to have my photo taken with them.  I got a few "why?!" looks, but hey, I'm a blogger fan! Besides, I still think they are celebrities on the net too. :)

I got one of our executive members to take me to the press conference to take a peek of the event so that, as I planned, I could interact with other bloggers.  When I got there and he introduced me to our marketing friends, they immediately asked what I mainly blog about so I said, "Well, it's just a small mommy blog..."  Coincidentally, I was seated at a table with a mommy blogger too!  I met Monique and Dhang Lachica of Absolutely Mommy.  This is the only photo of me I managed to have taken.

I learned that Monique used to just contribute to websites, but eventually decided to start a blog of her own.  Absolutely Mommy also does web design services and advertisements.  Maybe I can get their services in the future? Hehe.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to meet with the rest of the beauty bloggers at the other tables.  I was too shy! Sigh.  I really hope to meet more bloggers in the flesh someday when I overcome my insecurity  of having less than fifty posts in four years.  Haha! Must. Blog. More.

Quick Post on a Yayyyy!

I failed to put the nappy on little dude last night before we went to bed.  I was meaning to wait until he was already asleep so that he would tell me if he needs to do #2 instead of doing it while on his diaper, which he usually does before he goes to sleep. 

As I said on my previous post, Marcus isn't fully potty trained yet, so imagine my surprise when, at around 1am earlier, he woke up and grumpily said to me, "Manney (mommy), wee-wee!"  My little boy can now tell when he's about to go even when he's asleep!  I was a little shocked and impressed and hurriedly led him to the restroom.  Yayyyy! A few more months and hopefully we'll have a nappy-free home and baby! :)

Marcus' First "Exam"

When I got home from work last Tuesday, yaya told me to check the little dude's diary.  He's going to have an exam daw, so I did check it out and here's what I found:

Oooooh.. so a graded recitation, as we call it during my time (what's it called nowadays anyway? just recitation?).  It was the first time that Marcus' school actually gave "us" something to do so I got kinda excited.  And panicky.  Haha!  The stage mother in me of course wanted nothing less than a perfect score for my boy.  I was confident with the alphabet, no problem with that.  But for the numbers, I was a bit hesitant.

The following day, I dropped by National Bookstore on my way home and bought puzzles and books.  Puzzles interest my little dude so I bought a number puzzle where he has to slot in the numbers in the right spaces.  I was hoping that would do the trick.  That and the practice we did before going to bed, that is.

Come Friday, we got Marcus' diary back and this is what Teacher Riza had to say - "He read all the letters and numbers but can't pronounce them properly."  Haha! Well, he's a little bulol but still, he was able to express how his brain interprets those figures.  So proud of you, my Marcus!

Next up - "Familiarize the numbers 11-20.  Recitation on Wednesday."  Yikes!  The long weekend is almost over and we haven't practiced yet.  Hihi.

Online Window Shopping

Doing my "rounds" on my usual online group buying sites, here are just random stuff I'd love to purchase.

1. Yoga classes - I want to try yoga because I heard it promotes relaxation and concentration.
2. Cotton candy maker for when we throw kiddie parties at home or maybe in Marcus' school!
3. Steel watch to add to my few accessories
4. Animal hoodie blanket for the little dude
5. Prada messenger bag - who doesn't want one?
6. Satchel bag for everyday use at the office
7. Brazilian blowout for my now long hair (still contemplating whether or not to have it cut though)
8. Mini sewing machine for my future DIY projects

Now if only we weren't on a spending ban... Hehe.

Wedding Venue: Blue Gardens

As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm coordinating a wedding for my friends, Armie and Jayson.  We've actually had a couple of meetings and as far as timeline is considered, I think we're doing fine.  We have also made an ocular inspection of their christian wedding venue, Blue Gardens Wedding and Events Venue.

Blue Gardens is an ideal wedding venue in the QC area, which also offers affordable and hassle-free packages.  They have tie-ups with caterers, photographers/videogaphers, lights and sound systems, photobooths, etc.  Rates are quite good but I am yet to comment if it IS worth the price based on how we will be working together in the coming months.

What's good about Blue Gardens is that they accommodate only one event per timeslot, one in the morning, and one in the evening.  That goes regardless if you're going to rent the entire venue (indoor and outdoor, for an extra charge) or not.  This will eliminate the common problem of hearing the program from another event while your own program is on-going. 

So far, we liked what we saw and we're looking forward to having pre-production meetings with the other suppliers here.  Stay tuned for more comprehensive reviews that I shall be posting here as we go along! ;)
